EEG Researcher/Analyst

Are you an experienced sleep EEG analyst who writes clean code and thinks carefully about methodology? We're building technology that doesn't just observe sleep — it actively deepens it. As we move from research validation toward real-world deployment, we're looking for someone to grow our codebase, shape our analytical approach, and extract meaningful signals from a rich and expanding database of high-density lab and wearable EEG recordings. If you want your work to sit at the intersection of rigorous sleep science and a product that could matter at scale, this is that role.

The concrete tasks you will be dealing with on a daily basis:

  • Data ingestion & format handling: build and maintain Python pipelines for importing, exporting, and version-controlling physiological and behavioral data across the heterogeneous formats that come with multi-study, multi-device datasets.
  • Dataset management & curation: maintain analysis-ready datasets spanning high-density lab EEG and ambulatory wearable recordings, managing the quality control, versioning, and documentation that large-scale sleep research demands.
  • Methodology development: propose, test, and validate analytical approaches with real methodological latitude. This isn't inheriting a fixed pipeline, but actively shaping how the data gets interrogated.
  • Signal processing & analysis: run the full analytical spectrum across existing and ongoing studies: from classical sleep staging and oscillatory feature extraction to ML-based classification and cross-study comparative analyses, with outputs that directly inform closed-loop algorithm behavior.
  • Data visualization & communication: build visualizations that make high-dimensional sleep data legible across audiences: from publication figures and internal analysis tools to accessible formats for non-scientific stakeholders.

Hard requirements…

  • MSc or PhD in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Psychology, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with sleep EEG analysis across the pipeline: preprocessing, artifact handling, time-frequency analysis, slow wave and spindle detection, sleep staging, and visualization.
  • Strong Python skills and familiarity with the core scientific stack (MNE, NumPy, Pandas, SciPy).
  • Comfortable with data wrangling and management, including relational data structures and SQL.
  • Experience with version control and code deployment via Git/GitHub.
  • Solid quantitative foundation in mathematics and statistics, paired with a creative approach to data problems.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong communication and collaboration skills suited to a fast-moving startup environment.

Strongly recommended…

  • Proficiency in additional programming languages (R, MATLAB, C, C#, Java).
  • Experience with other physiological signals: EMG, ECG, respiration.
  • Machine learning experience, with frameworks such as scikit-learn, Keras, or TensorFlow.
  • Familiarity with BIDS and associated tools (MNE-BIDS, PyBIDS).
  • Experience with study coordination or scientific manuscript preparation.
